Another reason why alcohol consumption is not advised is due to the negative effects that it has on your liver. This holds true for all people, not only those who are watching their weight. However, if you are trying to lose weight, be aware of the fact that it takes your liver a lot longer to metabolize alcohol. What this means is that your liver will be preoccupied with metabolizing alcohol and thereby unable to metabolize fat. So if you ever wondered whether alcohol and dieting mix well together, the answer is no.
